Preventing Online ID Theft

ONLINE ID THEFT TIPS FOR SENIORS

  • If you shop or pay bills online regularly, only visit and give your information to trusted sites. (When sending information such as credit card info for a purchase or simply entering your password to log in, be sure the URL begins with “https” – the “s” means the site is secure.)
  •  Update your malware and virus protection daily.
  • Change your passwords every six months. Remember to use a mix of numbers and letters to make it more difficult for hackers.
  • Do not click on pop-up ads or run unfamiliar programs.
