Things You Forgot to Include in Your Wedding Budget

things you forgot to include in your wedding budget

We all know that weddings are expensive, which is exactly why you were proactive and created a budget to make sure that you can pull off this special event. You’ve calculated the price of the venue, the food, the tux, and the photographer. But what if we told you that there are still wedding costs that you didn’t plan for? With most of the attention being paid to the bride’s wants and needs, it’s easy to forget how much the groom needs to spend to get ready for the big day. Here’s a list of five things you forgot to include in your wedding budget.

Marriage License

Although it is not a big cost, a marriage license is not free. A marriage license can range in fee cost anywhere from $15-$110 depending on where you live. The whole point of having a wedding is so that you can be married at the end of it. While this may be a shared task between the bride and groom, double-check that you’ve included this expense in your budget.

Groomsmen Gifts

For some people, this may be a great place to save a little money, but others may want to get something nice as a thank you for their groomsmen. Your groomsmen sacrifice their time, energy, and money to be there for you on your big day. If you plan on getting a gift for them to show how much their effort means to you, you’ll want to factor this into the wedding budget.

Accessories

Once you’ve found the suit that you’re going to wear, it’s time to think about all the accessories that are needed to complete the look. Your tie, pocket square, watch, shoes, and custom cufflinks all come with a price tag. All these things need to be taken into account when you’re trying to save for your wedding-day attire.

Grooming

Now that you’ve got the look all put together, it’s time to finish it with a little personal grooming. While grooms don’t typically account for a hair and makeup budget, you still want to look your best. Reach out to a trusted barber that knows your style so you can get a cut run through before your wedding day. Also, you may want to splurge on top-notch razors and shave products for this occasion. Using high-quality skincare products will give your skin a glow as bright as your bride’s. Your hygiene is just as important in making you photo-ready as your suit and tie are.

Bachelor Party

Whether it’s a big ordeal or a small get together, there are several expenses you should include in your budget for your bachelor party. You have to calculate the cost of food, drinks, travel, housing, and activities when planning your celebration with the guys. Remember, this is a cost that involves a lot of variables and moving parts, so make sure you and your groomsmen are on the same page for how you want to celebrate.

This is one of the most important days of your life, and you want to make sure you get it right. Double-check your budget so that you’ll know exactly how much money you need to save in order to have a dream-worthy wedding.
