There is definitely a link between physical and financial health, and we’ve previously discussed ways that healthy lifestyles lead to healthy budgets. One of those habits is working out. Luckily, there are tons of workouts you can do at home for free and with little to no extra equipment. This is especially great if you’re trying to pay off credit card debt. In today’s Tuesday Tip, we’re bringing workouts back to the basics because let’s get real, they’re the fundamentals for a reason!
Workouts You Can Do At Home
There’s no need to complicate your workout with crazy equipment. Sure, some people may have a lot of time and money to devote to a workout, but for others, it’s not always so simple to prioritize health. A gym membership just may not be in the cards for your budget, especially when you’re in debt management. Many times, you only have 15 to 20 minutes to work out, so it’s important to be efficient. Really, some of the best and most effective workouts require nothing more than your own body weight! And what’s better than working out at home? Try implementing some tips from these workouts you can do at home into your own fitness routine!
Basic Exercises – No Equipment Required
For a quick yet effective workout, try doing one exercise that targets each specific muscle group you’re trying to work on. Or, exercises that work your entire body. We recommend doing a few sets of each exercise. So, let’s say you’re doing crunches. Do 3 sets of 15 repetitions or 45 total crunches. Feel free to start out with less (ie: 2 sets of 10) and work your way up in terms of sets and reps! Here are some easy and common workouts you can do at home that should target a variety of muscle groups:
- Crunches
- Push-ups/Burpees
- Lunges/Squats
- Planks
- Jumping Jacks
- Tricep Dips (use a chair, table, or couch to hold!)
Simple Equipment
As far as equipment goes, you can use it or not. Whether you decide to buy some equipment or use some household alternatives, that’s up to you. Here are some inexpensive items that you can invest in or find around the home that is still cheaper than a gym membership.
- Arm/ankle weights (or use a household item that weighs a few pounds. Like soup cans, a jar of sauce, or even a bottle of detergent!)
- Ankle Weights
- Exercise ball (great for balance and core workouts!)
- Jump rope
- Yoga mat (or a towel that will cushion your body from the hard floor!)
- Your stairs!
