If you really want to push or maybe torture your kids, there are some more educational activities you can do. Book or movie reviews can keep kids engaged and learning. It won’t feel as tedious if the topic is their choice and the report or review is simple. Nature can also be a great teacher. Help your kids identify plants, trees and other wildlife. All of this can be done for free with a library card and/or the Internet.
Working in some financial literacy during summer is another great idea. This is typically a subject schools rely on parents to cover. If you have older kids, they might be earning a paycheck and need guidance. Teaching them to budget and set financial goals can be instrumental in their ability to do so as an adult. Younger children can play store, house or other games to learn about money in a playful way.
