Mother’s Day Gifts Under $30

Nobody wants to miss out on Mother’s Day due to financial hardship. And with the proper planning, you don’t have to. Just because you can’t shell out this year doesn’t mean you can’t give your mom something great. The important thing to remember is that your mother doesn’t need an expensive gift to know you care. These three gift ideas are sure to impress while allowing you to remain focused on debt relief.

Photo Album – Making a photo album, especially during the digital age, is a really thoughtful idea. Sure, it’s easy to store photos online, but the gesture of taking the time to compile happy memories shouldn’t be dismissed. Printing pictures from CVS, Walgreen’s, or Walmart makes photo albums an affordable option. Each 4 x 6 image costs about $0.30 to print, and the album itself should cost no more than $10. For even more savings, look for coupons, visit a fabric store, or head to stores designed to keep costs to a minimum (like Family Dollar or 5 Below). Getting out of debt is hard work, and using your creativity for a scrapbook can be the perfect mode of stress relief.

For a unique twist, think about recreating some old pictures and put them side-by-side with the original. It’s a sweet idea that will be sure to get a few laughs.

Flowers –  Moms love being remembered – and their favorite flower is a touching, yet relatively inexpensive way to show you care. If you’re not sure about any favorites, a bouquet of spring flowers like tulips, daisies, or hydrangeas are all great choices for moms. Look online or at your local florist for Mother’s Day Specials to save a bundle on your bouquet. And remember, there’s nothing wrong with supermarket flowers; but consider switching up the wrapping to show your purchase wasn’t a last-minute buy.

Dinner – If you enjoy being in the kitchen, making your mother her favorite meal is a win-win. Enlist the help of your family and put together a nice night for your mom where she can put her feet up and enjoy. If you’re really feeling generous, dote on Mom all day! Taking on her usual tasks is a nice way to let her relax while showing you’re grateful for everything she does for you (and others!) on a daily basis.

There are tons of other Mother’s Day gifts that you can pull together with while eliminating debt. You don’t need to rack up debt to show you care.

If you’re struggling to pay off debt, ACCC can help. Schedule a free credit counseling session with us today.
