Free Shipping Day + 3 Ways to Save Money Christmas Shopping
It’s important for consumers to take advantage of every opportunity to save money when facing too much debt or bankruptcy. Check out this list of shopping tips to reduce your costs this holiday season.
Free Shipping Day
As mentioned above, Free Shipping Day is on December 14th this year. This is a national shopping holiday where many retailers and businesses offer free shipping to customers. As many shoppers are still tracking down their gifts and holiday items, they are trying to draw as much business in as possible. Research different stores to see if they are participating. If so, wait until the 14th and save anywhere from $5 to $10 on shipping costs.
Choose the No Rush Delivery Option on Amazon
My husband and I have saved a lot of money by choosing to have our packages arrive beyond the Prime window. Typically, Amazon rewards this choice with money towards a book or media purchase. This year, we needed two books for Christmas presents and saved $10! During the year, we apply it to our own music and book purchases. It’s an easy way to lower the price of needed items by simply waiting an additional few days to receive them. The deals revolve between media, books and Amazon Fresh purchases.
Use Store Apps & Cards Responsibly
Target purchases always receive 5% off when using a Red card. My family has a Red debit card rather than the credit card. We love this feature since it gives us the 5% off without the risk of a credit card. We cannot overspend since it draws directly from our bank account. And we need all that money for other things besides the 10 unneeded Target items I have to pass on in the store. We also use the Target app to make sure we get additional discounts. Be sure to check other stores and their apps for coupons and deals.
Buy Cheaper Gas with Grocery Store Benefits
Finally, try using a grocery store that rewards you in gas points. We saved 90 cents off a gallon the other day between our grocery spending and an additional coupon. Seriously, that’s almost $1 off for doing pretty much nothing out of the ordinary! You may need extra gas running holiday errands or travelling. Finding extra savings this way is easy, cost effective and very satisfying to see a cheaper price at the pump.
Free Shipping Day is one of many ways to shop smart this holiday season. Use everything at your disposal to avoid personal credit card debt.
